Health Insurance

All students must have valid health insurance coverage to provide for medical treatment in case of illness. German public health insurance companies offer special student coverage, which at present runs approximately 75 Euros per month for students under 30 years of age. Those who are over 30 years of age will be able to acquire private health insurance (the costs of which vary).

Students from EU countries may keep their health insurance from their home country. Students from non-EU countries who do not possess health insurance coverage from their home country that is valid for Germany must acquire health insurance for Germany. The documents needed for registration with a health insurance company include:

  • Passport
  • Bank account
  • Letter of admission from the GSEFM
